KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes says it is currently experiencing equipment operational challenges at the Lindsay Water Treatment plant and the plant is not producing drinking water at this time. Staff remain focused on the required repairs.
In the meantime, the drinking water system is functioning using reserves from the Thornhill Reservoir and Verulam Tower.
Water will remain safe to drink at all times.
To ensure the water supply remains sufficient for all users while repairs are undertaken, the city will be implementing Phase Two Water Conservation Measures in accordance with By-law 2021-162 for the Town of Lindsay and the Village of Oakwood for May 31, 2023.
The bulk water station in Lindsay is closed until further notice.
These restrictions will be in place until the issue is resolved.
Phase Two Water Measures include:
- No lawn or garden watering using sprinklers/garden hose (only manual watering is permitted for flowers, gardens, trees and shrubs);
- No washing of motor vehicles;
- No filling or topping up of any swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, garden ponds, and fountains and other outdoor water features; and
- No use of outdoor misting systems.
Please note that Phase Two water conservation measures are enforceable.
