Victim Taken To Toronto Area Hospital After Stabbing In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A repeat offender from Lindsay has been charged after an alleged stabbing on May 20th.

Police say at approximately 6:40 pm members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service were called to Lindsay St S in the area of Russell St in Lindsay for a disturbance. When officers arrived they located one of the involved parties who was suffering from a stab wound. Police say the other party, who was not known to the victim, had fled the area and was not immediately located by officers. The victim was taken to the local hospital by paramedics prior to being transferred to a Toronto area hospital to have their injury treated. The victim remains in the hospital in stable condition according to police.

On May 25, 2023 officers located and arrested 31-year-old Chace English of Lindsay, in the City of Peterborough. English is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and failing to comply with a release order.

English has a long history of criminal charges dating back at least seven years.

In March 2016 he was charged in connection with thefts at car wash and laundry mat in Peterborough and Lakefield.

He was charged again a month later with failing to comply with a condition of his probation.

In 2018 he was charged with mischief to property under $5000 and failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order after tires were allegedly slashed at a residence in Lindsay.

In August 2021 he was charged with flight from a police officer, dangerous driving, stunt driving, and failing to comply with probation after a police chase in Peterborough.

In October 2022 he was charged with assault with a weapon X2, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with a probation order

He is being held in custody on these charges and will appear in bail court on Friday, May 26, 2023.
