KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes OPP charged at least four drivers with impaired driving over the weekend.
Officers investigated a single motor vehicle collision that resulted in one female arrested for impaired operation.
On May 20, 2023 officers responded to a report for a single vehicle collision in Emily Township where the driver lost control of their motor vehicle and rolled it in the ditch. The motor vehicle ended up on its side.
Christina Shands of Emily Township was charged with Operation while impaired. (drug and alcohol)
On May 22, 2023 officers responded to a report for a single-vehicle collision in Bexley Township where the driver drove off the roadway and into a field crossing over a farmer’s fence. The driver was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Amber Butler 48 years old of Oshawa
- Operation while impaired (drug and alcohol)
- Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration over 80
- Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Careless Driving
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and the motor vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
On May 21, 2023 officers initiated a traffic stop which resulted in an impaired operation investigation according to police. The driver, 43-year-old Brently Lamb of Kirkfiled was arrested and charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.
On May 21, 2023 officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Bobcaygeon. The driver, 31-year-old Travis Legge of Bobcaygeon was arrested and charged Operation while impaired. (drug and alcohol)
Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
