100 Acres Burned In Brush Fire Near Dunsford

KAWARTHA LAKES-Fire Chief Terry Jones says 100 acres burned in a brush fire on Settlers Road near Dunsford on Friday.

“We were lucky to contain it and stop it from getting to several homes along Four Points Road.” Jones told Kawartha 411 News.

The call came in around 3:30 Friday afternoon. Watch video here: https://www.kawartha411.ca/2023/05/19/crews-battle-large-brush-fire-near-dunsford-video/

Jones says the fire was caused by an agricultural burn that got out of control due to the wind. Six halls responded to the blaze including Lindsay, Ops, Dunsford, Omemee and Emily.

There were no injuries and no structures burned. Crews cleared the scene around 9pm.
