Procession For Fallen OPP Officer Eric Mueller Will Take Place This Afternoon

KAWARTHA LAKES-A procession to escort Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sergeant Eric Mueller will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Sergeant Mueller died as a result of injuries he sustained in an incident in the early morning hours of May 11, 2023 in Bourget, east of Ottawa.

The procession will depart from the Ottawa Hospital – General Campus at 3:45 p.m. and will travel along Highway 417 eastbound to Highway 174, which transitions to Highway 17, to Rockland, arriving at 4:30 p.m.

Members of the public are invited join First Responders in showing their respects from one of the many overpasses along the highway or along the shoulder of the bi-directional portion of Highway 17. Please do not stop on the multi-lane portion of the highways to exit your vehicle. This poses a serious safety concern.

The OPP will livestream the media event on multiple platforms including:

Twitter: @OPP_ER, @OPP_HSD and @OPP_News

Faebook: Ontario Provincial Police-East Region and Ontario Provincial Police

A police funeral will be held at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Details to be announced once they have been finalized.

The OPP continues to appeal the media and public to respect the wishes for privacy by Sgt. Mueller’s family, as well as by the families of his injured colleagues.
