OPP Officer Rescued Woman Whose Kayak Overturned On Cameron Lake

KAWARTHA LAKES_An off-duty City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officer heard a woman screaming for helps after her kayak had overturned in the water near the Fenelon Falls beach on Tuesday night.

Police say the officer promptly swam out into the cold water, approximately 20 meters against whitecaps and brought the woman back to shore.
Thankfully the kayaker, who was wearing her life jacket at the time, was not injured, though she was transported to hospital as a precaution.
The officer, who does not wish to be named, was also okay, though commented that the water was very cold.
Police say this is a good reminder if you are planning even a short trip out on the water, please check weather and water conditions prior to heading out.
