Drug Charges Laid In Traffic Stop On Highway 7

PETERBOROUGH-Members of the Peterborough County OPP, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) in partnership with the Curve Lake Anishinabek Police Service (APS) have charged two persons with Trafficking of cocaine.

Peterborough OPP CSCU and uniform officers initiated a traffic stop on Highway 7 on May 4, 2023, at approximately 3:35a.m. Police say two persons in the vehicle were found to be in possession of a large quantity of cocaine and Canadian currency. Both were arrested and charged.

A further warrant was executed at a residence on Curve Lake, with the assistance of the Curve Lake APS which resulted in the further seizure of cocaine, cell phones and a computer according to police.

42-year-old Kurt Miller and 43-year-old Jeremy Coppaway both of Curve Lake First Nation, were arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 – in Canada.

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 13, 2023.
