Kiwanis Club Of Scott’s Plains Continues to Support BGC Kawarthas Programming In Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains has donated an additional $5,000 to BGC Kawarthas for its Peterborough programming.

This brings the Kiwanis Clubs two-year total donations to $25,000.

“At BGC Kawarthas, we’re extremely grateful for the support from Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains for our programs in Peterborough, at a time when the Kiwanis Club was also rebuilding after fundraising activities were curtailed,” says Amy Terrill, Executive Director of BGC Kawarthas.  “Their support has buttressed our After School programs in the city at a critical time of recovery from COVID-19.”

BGC Kawarthas operates two After School Programs in Peterborough – at Edmison Heights  Public School and Westmount Public School.  Officials say after the mandated closures caused by the pandemic, the programs were slow to recover and the support from the Kiwanis Club has ensured they could remain open to serve families.

“The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains is thrilled to announce its continued support of BGC Kawarthas this year. It’s been wonderful to see the growth of the after-school care programs in Peterborough and we can’t wait to watch them continue to flourish,” says Sara Sirtonski, Vice- President, Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains.

The After School programs include physical activity, nutritional education, academics (including STEM), arts and culture and local programming to meet specific needs.  There are registration spots available for families for the remainder of the school year.  BGC Kawarthas also offers March Break and PA Day programming, and summer camps in Peterborough and Asphodel-Norwood.
