Pontypool Woman Wins $100,000 On Encore

KAWARTHA LAKES-Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Brenda Hynes of Pontypool. She matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the March 3, 2023 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000!

Brenda, a mother and grandmother, says she’s been playing the lottery on and off for about 40 years. “I went to the store to check my ticket and the screen said Big Winner. I didn’t know how much I won until OLG called and told me I won $100,000 – I was so shocked! I got butterflies in my stomach,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque.

The 62-year-old went home and told her husband the news about her big win. “He couldn’t believe it either. We went for dinner a few nights later to celebrate,” she smiled.

Brenda plans to take a month-long vacation to Portugal and save the rest of her winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Highway 35 in Lindsay.
