DURHAM REGION-Durham Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 37-year-old male who is wanted for the stabbing death of Katie Kainz and the stabbing of a second female.
Members of East Division responded to an address on Simcoe Street in Oshawa for reports of an armed person on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m. When police arrived on scene they located two adult females suffering from stab wounds. Both females were transported to Toronto-area trauma centres where one has succumbed to her injuries.
Kainz had recently graduated from Fleming College in Peterborough with a diploma in Mental Health and Addictions. 37-year-old Adam Odette of Oshawa is wanted for Second-Degree Murder and Attempt Murder.
Investigators are urging Odette to contact a lawyer and turn himself into police.
“Anyone who is found to be assisting Odette to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent.” said DRPS.
