KAWARTHA LAKES-Ross Memorial Hospital has added new restrictions to its visitor’s policy after an outbreak of COVID-19.
Ross Memorial Hospital was declared in a facility-wide COVID-19 outbreak by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit on February 21, 2023. They currently have 23 cases of the virus in hospitalized patients.
“We enacted stronger visitor restrictions to prevent transmission of the virus and to protect staff, patients and our community.” Ryan Young, Ross Memorial Hospital Communications, told Kawartha 411 News. “We update our COVID positives every business day, which can be found on the same page as our new visitor restrictions: www.RMH.org/covid-19 ”
Visitors Will Only Be Allowed Into The Hospital To See Patients In The Following Scenarios:
- Patients who are near end-of-life (within weeks).
- Patients who are under 18 years of age (supported by parents or legal guardian s).
- Patients requiring a support person when:
- receiving a life-altering diagnosis,
- experiencing a mental health crisis, or
- they are developmentally or intellectually delayed
- Patients requiring a support person to safely attend their appointment.
- For example, due to dementia, significant developmental or intellectual delay, the inability to effectively communicate, mobility issues that cannot be supported by the health-care team, etc.
- Patients giving birth at the hospital (supported by birthing partner).
A Mandatory Masking Policy is in place. The hospital will provide masks upon entry. If a medical condition prevents someone from wearing a mask, please arrange an alternative with our care team.
Visitor Information/Screening Information
Visitors must enter through the main entrance.
Visitors must pass COVID-19 and Influenza symptom screening upon entry, sanitize their hands, and wear a medical-grade mask provided by the hospital. Visitors are not to eat or drink while inside RMH, including inpatient rooms.
