Winter Weather Travel Advisory Issued For Parts Of Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory for our area.

Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for tonight into Friday for snow, with amounts of 5 to 10 cm. The highest snowfall accumulations are expected over areas of higher terrainĀ beginning this evening or overnight and tapering to light snow Friday afternoon.

Rain beginning early this evening will transition to snow later this evening or overnight. The transition from rain to snow will occur latest for locations near to Lake Ontario where snowfall amounts will be toward the low end of the range.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
