Bancroft Man Charged After Bullet Holes Found In Structure Of Retail Business And In Parked Vehicles

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP has made an arrest in connection to the building and vehicles being damaged in Bancroft. 27-year-old Steven Moreau of Bancroft has been charged with the criminal offences of:

–       Mischief Under $5000 – three counts;

–       Mischief Over $5000;

–       Reckless Discharging of a firearm; and

–       Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

On January 8, 2023, Bancroft OPP assisted by Belleville Forensic Identification Services (FIS) attended the business on Hastings Street North to investigate damage to the building and surrounding area. The building and a few cars in the parking lot had sustained damage. Investigators believe the incident may have occurred on January 8, 2023 shortly after 1:00 a.m. The OPP has not received any reports of injuries.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 10, 2023 in relation to the criminal charges.
