Fire Destroys Home On County Road 24

KAWARTHA LAKES-A local family lost everything in a house fire on County Road 24 near Bobcaygeon earlier today.

Fire officials say the home on Sturgeon Lake at Scotch Line Road was fully engulfed when crews arrived just after noon today. Three people were home at the time and everyone made it out safely.

Three halls responded to the fire along with an aerial unit and a support truck.

Chief Terry Jones says the fire is not considered suspicious and the cause is thought to be the wrongful disposal of ashes from a wood stove.

Damage is pegged at approximately $700,000.
