Kidnapping And Weapons Charges Laid After Incident In Omemee

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha OPP has arrested two suspects in connection to a variety of charges, including kidnapping and discharge of firearm with intent.

Just before 3:30 am on December 16th officers were dispatched to an assault in Omemee in the area of King Street. Further investigation has since led to the arrest of two accused on multiple weapons-related charges.

19-year-old Faysai Wiso of Omemee has been charged with:

  • Kidnapping while using certain firearms – confined
  • Intimidation – use or threatens use of violence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Extortion While Using Firearm
  • Discharge firearm with Intent
  • Failure to comply with undertaking -two counts
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of Firearm
  • Possession of firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime

Janai Jean 22 years-of-age of Scarborough, has been charged with:

  • Kidnapping while using certain firearms – confined
  • Intimidation – use or threatens use of violence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Extortion While Using Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition
  • Assault
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused are both remanded in custody with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
