Winter Weather Travel Advisory Issued With Heavy Flurries Expected

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory.

Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for tonight for locally heavy flurries and blowing snow with heavy snowfall of 5 to 10 cm locally.Heavy bursts of snow and strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h resulting in blowing snow and reduced visibility to near zero at times tonight through early Thursday morning.

Flurries and local snow squalls producing heavy bursts of snow will combine with strong wind gusts up to 60 km/h to result in blowing snow and significantly reduced visibilities at times. These flurries and strong winds are expected to last through the night before weakening early Thursday morning.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Travel is not recommended. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
