Omemee Man Charged With Assaulting Peterborough Police Officer

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 32-year-old Omemee man is facing charges after an incident in Peterborough Wednesday evening.

Police say at approximately 11:30pm on November 23, 2022, officers were called to the area of Wolfe Street and Aylmer Street about a man smashing windows.  Upon arrival, officers were approached by a man matching the description given to police and he was taken into custody.  Police noticed he had a cut on his wrist and took him to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.  During the arrest the man allegedly became aggressive kicking an officer and yelling threats at the officers.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Omemee man was charged with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief Under $ 5,000

The accused also wanted in another jurisdiction and was subsequently taken into custody by the other police service.

Peterborough Police no longer release the names of people charged.
