Bancroft Man Facing Child Pornography Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP Bancroft Crime Unit, with the assistance of OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have arrested one person during a search warrant conducted at a residence.

Police say on November 14, 2022, 46-year-old Richard Carroll was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by means of Telecommunication, contrary to section 172.1(1)(b);
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching, contrary to section 152; and,
  • Distribution of Child Pornography, contrary to section 163.1(2).

The accused has been in custody since their initial arrest date on November 14, 2022.

Anyone wanting to make a difference is encouraged to go to protectchildren.ca and download the “Child Sexual Abuse – It Is Your Business” brochure from the Canadian Center for Child Protection. This is an important first step that can save a child.

Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding internet safety. Parents and anyone interested in protecting children can find resources to assist them at cybertip.ca.
