Winter Weather Travel Advisory Issued For Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory for our area.

Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm with poor visibility due to heavy snow at times, beginning this evening. Tapering to light snow Wednesday morning.

An approaching low pressure system will make its way over Lake Erie tonight, bringing snow for much of southern Ontario. An enhanced area of snow may develop from Lucan through Peterborough, reducing visibilities in heavy snow and resulting in snowfall amounts closer to 10 cm. Areas outside of this enhancement will receive closer to 5 cm.

This is the first significant snowfall of the season for most areas.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
