Highway 7 Closed, Power Lines Down After Crash In Omemee Involving OPP Cruiser

KAWARTHA LAKES-The power is out to about 300 customers in the village of Omemee and a police cruiser damaged after a crash this afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 7 and Sturgeon Road at approximately 2pm. A truck allegedly smashed into a police cruiser, went up over the curb and hit a hydro pole.

Witnesses say the officer was not in the cruiser when it was hit.

It’s unclear if the driver of the truck was injured. Police have not yet released any information.

Highway 7 at Sturgeon Road is closed for investigation.
