PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP charged a number of drivers with speeding on Thursday, October 20th.
At approximately 7:30am, officers say they clocked a vehicle travelling at 120km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7. Further investigation revealed that a warrant had been issued for the driver’s arrest. Illicit drugs were located during a search of the vehicle. The name is being released due to the criminal drug charges.
40-year-old Matthew Clancy of Peterborough, has been charged with:
• Speeding
• Drive motor vehicle-no licence
• Possession of a Schedule I substance-cocaine
Officers say they clocked a vehicle travelling at 132km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on County Road 4 Shortly after 10:15 am.
A 20-year-old driver of Douro-Dummer Township, has been charged with:
• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed
• Fail to surrender insurance card
• Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
Shortly before 11:00pm, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 154km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7 according to police.
A 24-year-old driver of Nepean, has been charged with:
• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed
A vehicle was clocked travelling at 172km/h in a posted 100km/h zone on Highway 115Â shortly before 11:00 pm according to police.
A 27-year-old driver of Mississauga, has been charged with:
• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed
All of the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
