Peterborough Police Release Name Of Man Charged With Sexual Assault As A Matter Of “Public Safety”

PETERBOROUGH-A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an alleged  robbery and sexual assault early Saturday morning.

Officers were made aware of an incident that had happened in the area of Bethune and Hunter Streets at approximately 2:30am on October 15.

Officers learned that a woman had been walking home from work when she heard someone following her, when she turned, she noticed a man, they exchanged words, and she started walking again.  Police say the man then grabbed the woman from behind, made sexual overtures and ripped off her purse. The woman escaped and ran to safety, while the suspect fled the area.  The victim was treated by EMS at the scene.  Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect at the time.

As a result of further investigation, 52-year-old Cory Robinson was arrested on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, and charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Robbery with Theft
  • Use of Credit Card x2

Peterborough Police no longer release the names of people charged but in this instance the accused’s name is being released as a matter of public safety according to police.
