KAWARTHA LAKES-Two people are facing impaired driving charges after weekend traffic stops by Kawartha Lakes Police.
On Saturday October 15 at 4:41 pm, Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a call from a member of the public who believed an impaired driver was operating a vehicle on the property of Memorial Park in Lindsay. Officers located the vehicle with an occupant inside and a sample of breath was given into a roadside screening device by the occupant and he was placed under arrest. 51-year-old Troy McKeigue of Pefferlaw has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Lindsay Street South business to check on the welfare of a vehicle occupant on Sunday, October 16 at 6:21 pm.
When officers arrived, they say they found two individuals sleeping in the vehicle. While officers spoke with the passenger, the driver turned the vehicle on, revving the engine while the vehicle remained in park according to police. The driver allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. 37-year-old Amie Stroud of Orillia has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.
