SIU Seeking Witnesses of Women’s Arrest At Lindsay Dry Cleaners In July

KAWARTHA LAKES-The province’s Special Investigations Unit is seeking witnesses to the arrest of a 26-year-old woman in Lindsay by Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers on Sunday, July 10.

The SIU says it launched an investigation after being notified by Kawartha Lakes Police Service on August 18 following a notification from the Ontario Independent Police Review Director.

According to the SIU preliminary information suggests the following:
  • On Sunday, July 10, 2022, officers went to the Lindsay Dry Cleaners and Coin Laundry at 211 Kent Street W for a disturbance.
  • Officers handcuffed the woman and brought her to the cruiser in the parking lot when there was an interaction.
  • The woman was released from custody and subsequently went to hospital where she was diagnosed with a serious injury.
Police services are required to notify the SIU anytime someone is seriously injured during a police interaction.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php
