Police Investigating After Cash Register Containing Money Stolen From Lindsay Business

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police Service is investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred at a Kent Street West business in Lindsay. Police say sometime between 9:00PM on September 14, and 6:50AM on September 15, unknown suspects smashed glass door panels to gain entry, a cash register containing a quantity of cash was stolen.

Kawartha Lakes Police are encouraging business owners to consider the following safety measures to help prevent break and enters: 

  • Post on doors/windows that no money is kept onsite.
  • When closed, remove all cash from cash registers and leave them open with the cash trays out and visibly empty.
  • Consider installing a video surveillance equipment.
  • Consider installing an alarm system. 
  • Consider installing security film on windows/glass to help prevent easy entry.
  • Keep some lighting on inside for surveillance opportunities during the overnight hours.
  • Remove material around the business exterior that may be used to gain entry into the premises.
  • Report suspicious persons or vehicles observed during operating hours to police.
