Swords, A Bow, Wooden Stake And Skateboard All “Weapons” Seized By Peterborough Police Over the Weekend

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough Police had a busy weekend confiscating a strange list of weapons allegedly seized in various investigations over the weekend. A Lindsay resident is among those charged.

Three people are facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 9:30pm on September 10, 2022, officers were called to the area of King Street and Bethune Street on the reports that several people were fighting.  Upon arrival officers were told that two suspects had fled the area.  Officers searched the area and were able to take two suspects into custody.  Police say further investigation revealed that three men had been involved in a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical altercation involving wooden stakes and a skateboard. One man was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

As a result of the investigation,

A 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Wooden Stake)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (Keep the Peace and be of good behaviour)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

A 23-year-old Lindsay man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Skateboard)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

A 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon (Wooden Stake)

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area of Millennium Park about two suspicious males including one holding a sword at approximately 4:30 pm on September 11. Upon arrival officers located two men matching the description given to police including one male who allegedly had two swords and a compound bow. Police say further investigation revealed that the man was bound by a peace bond to not possess any weapons and that he was wanted on two warrants by another jurisdiction.  The weapons were seized by officers.

As a result, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with two counts of Breach of recognizance.

In another instance, a 57-year-old Lakefield man is facing a number of charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022, officers were called to a business in the Queen Street and Water Street area of Lakefield about a suspicious male looking in vehicle windows and checking door handles. Upon arrival to the area, officers located a man matching the description given to police and took him into custody however, he continued to be verbally aggressive and threatening toward officers and spat at one officer.

As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old Lakefield man was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm X2
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Being intoxicated in public place (Liquor Licence and Control Act)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Sunday, September 11, 2022.
