Trent Lakes Resident Charged With Impaired Driving After Allegedly Fleeing From Police

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Trent Lakes man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police last night.

Peterborough County OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on Northey’s Road at approximately 10:30pm last night. Police say the vehicle fled from police but was located after it entered the ditch at the intersection of Northey’s Road and the 14th Line. The uninjured driver was charged.

28-year-old Drew Calberry of the Municipality of Trent Lakes, was arrested and charged with:

• Flight from peace officer

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

• Possession of a Schedule I substance-cocaine

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
