KAWARTHA LAKES-At 1:53 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to toonie size hail.
This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located from Janetville to Epsom, moving east at 60 km/h.
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
- Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
Locations impacted include:
Port Perry, Janetville, Lake Scugog, Purple Hill, Nestleton, Scugog Point, Pontypool and Bethany.
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
- Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
- Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County
This severe thunderstorm is located 5 kilometres southwest of Bobcaygeon, moving east at 55 km/h.
Hazard: Toonie size hail and 100 km/h wind gusts. A tornado is also possible.

Bobcaygeon, Buckhorn, Wolf Island Provincial Park, Burleigh Falls, Woodview, Pigeon Lake, Gannon, Point Pleasant, Little Bald Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Big Bald Lake, Rockcroft, Upper Chemong Lake, Lower Buckhorn Lake, Deer Bay, Moore Lake, Katchewanooka Lake, Lovesick Lake, Clear Lake and Kawartha Park.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
