Brampton Man Facing Charges After Police Pursuit In Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 21-year-old Brampton man is facing a number of charges after a brief police pursuit Wednesday evening in Peterborough.

Police say at approximately 8:30pm on June 8, 2022, officers on patrol observed some suspicious activity at a residence and noticed two males leave and get into a vehicle.  Officers allegedly saw the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the Park Place and Sherbrooke Street area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Initially, the vehicle stopped before it took off almost striking an officer according to police. Officers activated lights and sirens and followed the vehicle for a distance along Rubidge Street.  A second police vehicle saw the suspect vehicle pull over in the London Street and McDonnel Street area and a male passenger and driver exited the vehicle ran away according to police.  Officers chased on foot and located the suspect a short distance away.   The suspect vehicle was not put in park and rolled down a hill and into a parked vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Brampton man was arrested and charged with:

  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Red Light – Fail to Stop x2 (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No licence (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 29, 2022.
