PETERBOROUGH-A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing seven charges in connection with three recent break and enters in Peterborough.
At approximately 11:00pm on Monday, May 30, 2022, officers received a call about a break and enter in progress at Lansdowne Place Mall. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police hiding behind a door and was taken into custody.
During the arrest several items from a break and enter at Lansdowne Place Mall earlier that day were located on the accused along with approximately 8 grams of Fentanyl according to police.
At approximately 6:00am on May 30, 2022, officers were called to Lansdowne Place Mall after an alarm went off. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had broken into the mall and then a jewelry store before fleeing with the following worth about $19,000:
- 19 Citizen Watches (men’s & women’s)
- 83 Silver Necklaces including several with intricate detailing
- $200 in Canadian Currency
Police say further investigation revealed reasonable grounds for charges in connection with a break and enter on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at a business in the Lansdowne Street West and Ford Street area.
As a result, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Break and Enter – with intent to commit an indictable offence x3
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl
The accused appeared in court on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Some of the jewelry from the break and enter Monday morning has not been recovered.
