Peterborough Police Responding To A Suspicious Package At City Hall

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough Police responded to a suspicious package at City Hall this afternoon.

Early this afternoon May 26, 2022, officers were made aware of a suspicious package on the road in front of Peterborough City Hall.

As a safety precaution, the road was closed, City Hall was evacuated and the OPP Hazardous Disposal Unit was called in. They were able to determine that the container was not a threat.

Peterborough Police say that a suspicious package was not a threat.

George Street between McDonnel and Murray Streets was reopened around 5:00pm.

“Thank you to the public for their patience during this time.” said police.
