Northern Tornadoes Project Confirms EF2 Tornado Touched Down In Uxbridge On Saturday

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP)team has confirmed an EF2 tornado touched down in Uxbridge on Saturday.

A team was sent to the area to investigate. The preliminary result is that a long, narrow path of enhanced damage, up to EF2 intensity, was identified. The team says the path is 4.26 km in length, maximum width of 260 metres with a maximum speed of 196km/h at 1:15pm.

According to investigators, there is additional damage roughly in line with a tornado farther to the east of Uxbridge, and the length of the tornado may be extended after further analysis.

A severe storm hit much of Southern Ontario leaving thousands without power, downing trees and damaging homes. 10 people in Ontario and Quebec were killed in the storm including three in our region.
