Ministry Of Natural Resources Fighting Forest Fire Near Gooderham

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Ministry of Natural Resources is currently fighting a forest fire near Gooderham.

The fire is located two Km North West of Bark Lake in Highlands East Township between Gooderham and Minden.

Isabelle Chenard with the MNFR told Kawartha 411 News one crew is on scene. They had to travel to the fire by ATV as it is on a hilltop.  The fire was confirmed on May 14th and is not under control.

A second forest fire north of Ashby Lake near Bancroft is approximately 5.5 hectares in size but is under control according to the ministry. That fire was discovered on May 11th.
