Crews Battling Brush Fire In Mariposa Township

KAWARTHA LAKES-Firefighters are currently battling a brush fire in Mariposa Township.

The call came in earlier this morning at the corner of Simcoe Street and Quaker Road. Crews from Mariposa, Woodville, Cannington, Sunderland and Brock fire departments are on the scene.

Witnesses say the fire spread quickly in dry conditions.

There have been numerous brush fires over the last few weeks in the City. The current burn hazard index in Kawartha Lakes is set at moderate.

There is no word yet on a cause.
