One Person Is Dead, One Seriously Injured In Workplace Accident At Quarry Near Bobcaygeon

KAWARTHA LAKES-One person is dead and other seriously injured in a workplace accident at Buckhorn Sand and Gravel Bass Lane Quarry near Bobcaygeon

Police say shortly after 6:45 a.m. this morning Peterborough County OPP responded to a report of two unresponsive males at an aggregate quarry on Bass Lane. The initial investigation revealed that the victims had been trapped between two vehicles. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries prior to being flown to a Toronto area hospital via air ambulance.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) were notified and are attending. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario is assisting with the investigation.
