High Winds Expected On Thursday-Environment Canada Issues Special Weather Statement

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of high winds in our area.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Strong winds gusting between 80 and 90 km/h are expected on Thursday,
Officials say utility outages are possible.

Moderate south winds gusting up to 50 km/h will develop Thursday morning. Winds will then shift to the southwest and strengthen to up to 90 km/h in the afternoon with the passage of a cold front. Wind warnings may be issued for some areas as the system approaches.
