Freezing Rain Warning Issued For Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Treezing Rain Warning for Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes
  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Freezing rain with possible ice accretion of 2 to 4 mm, especially over higher terrain beginning this afternoon and ending late this evening or overnight.

Precipitation is forecast to begin early this afternoon. This precipitation will likely begin as snow, ice pellets or freezing rain but will quickly transition to a period of freezing rain in the late afternoon. Two to four hours of freezing rain will be possible before ending late this evening or overnight.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
