Female Charged After Vehicle Stolen From York Region Recovered In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 33-year-old woman is facing charges after a vehicle was allegedly stolen from York Region was recovered in Lindsay.

Police say on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 1:45pm, Kawartha Lakes Police received information regarding a vehicle which had been stolen from York Region, which was believed to be at a location in Lindsay.

Officers attended a Kent Street West business, finding a female in possession of the stolen vehicle. During the investigation, licence plates on the vehicle were found to be stolen. The female in the vehicle was placed under arrest, she failed to identify herself, providing someone else’s name to police. 33-year-old Sara Vasey is charged with possession of property, theft under $5000, possession of property under $5000, obstruct peace officer, personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice and fail to comply with release order.

The accused has been held for a bail hearing, she will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on March 25, 2022.
