Charges Laid After Crash On Highway 7 This Morning

PETERBOROUGH-Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 7 at approximately 1:45am this morning. Police say the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch. The driver was not injured.

38-year-old Lloyd Vandermeer (age 38) of North Kawartha Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

• Novice driver-B.A.C. above zero

• Dangerous operation

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
