COVID-19 Outbreak At Central East Correctional Centre In Lindsay Grows To 51 Cases

KAWARTHA LAKES-A COVID-19 outbreak at Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay has grown to 51 cases as of January 13th.

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge (HKPR)District Health unit Declared a new outbreak in multiple units today. The outbreak began on January fourth according to the Ministry of Community Safety and Corrections.

An outbreak has also been declared at Christian Horizons Congregate Living facility in Lindsay. Christian Horizons community residences provide supported group and independent living environments for people with developmental disabilities who require assistance in daily living according to its website.

It is unclear how many cases are linked to this outbreak.

Since last Thursday there have been 281 new cases of COVID in the fully vaccinated in the HKPR region, 67 in the unvaccinated and 16 partially vaccinated.

Five additional deaths have been reported over the last two weeks. This week two CKL residents in their 90’s who were not immunized or had no immunization records died with COVID according to the Health Unit

The Health Unit reported three COVID-related deaths last week in the City of Kawartha Lakes. Two City of Kawartha Lakes residents in their 70s who were fully vaccinated and a City of Kawartha Lakes resident who was in their 80s who was fully vaccinated.
