COVID Outbreaks Declared At Seniors Homes In Fenelon Falls And Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge (HKPR)District Health Unit has declared a COVID outbreak at two local seniors facilities.

An outbreak was declared at Fenelon Court in Fenelon Falls on Monday January 10th. Officials say there are three staff cases and no resident cases.

The facility is owned by Rivera Living. Effective October 12, 2021, vaccination against COVID-19 was made mandatory for all Revera staff across Canada, unless an individual has a medical exemption This applies to all employees, volunteers, agency staff, contractors and students at Revera retirement homes and long term care facilities, as well as Revera’s Support Staff,contractors and students at Revera retirement homes and long term care facilities, as well as Revera’s Support Office in Mississauga, Ontario.

A second outbreak was declared at William Place Retirement Home in Lindsay. It is unclear how many cases are linked to this outbreak. The facility is owned by Oxford Living.

There were 60 new cases of COVID reported in the fully vaccinated in the HKPR region today, 15 new cases in the unvaccinated and 5 new cases in the partially vaccinated.

As of November 30, 2021, data shows that 99 per cent of long-term care staff, students and volunteers are fully vaccinated. In addition, more than 86 per cent of eligible long-term care home residents had received three doses of the vaccine according to the province.
