OPP Investigating After Human Remains Found In Wooded Area Near Bancroft

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Bancroft Detachment of the OPP IS investigating after the discovery of human remains.

Police say a hunter called the OPP on November 13, 2021 after locating partial skeletal remains in a wooded area near Boulter Road in Hastings Highlands Township.

The investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, is ongoing in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, the Centre of Forensic Sciences, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and OPP Emergency Response Team.

The identity of the deceased has not been determined at this time.

There is no threat to public safety, although a large police presence can be expected in the area this week as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
