Driver Charged After Allegedly Fleeing The Scene Of A Crash

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 55-year-old male is facing charges after Kawartha Lakes OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle that failed to remain after it entered the ditch and damaged some property according to police.

On November 9, 2021 shortly before 3:00 pm officers responded to the incident and located the suspect vehicle and driver nearby. Police say the driver refused to comply with the officer’s demand to provide a breath sample and also resisted arrest.

As a result, Kirk Jones, 55-years-of-age of Mariposa Township was arrested and charged with:

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·        Fail to remain

·        Driving while under suspension

·        Fail to report accident

·        Resist Peace Officer

The driver’s licence was suspended for an additional 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
