One Business In City Of Kawartha Lakes Fined For Failure To Comply With Proof Of Vaccine Requirement

KAWARTHA LAKES-One business in the City of Kawartha Lakes has been fined for failure to comply with the proof of vaccine requirement.

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit issued the $880 fine last week.

The Medical Officer of Health Dr Natalie Bocking says before fining businesses they follow the Four E’s approach, Engage Explain Educate and Enforce. Bocking says these steps would have been followed before a fine was issued.

Police were brought in to enforce the policy as well in this case.

“Certainly a priority for us is the safety of our staff,” said Bocking “So together we work with our partners including police to ensure everyone is safe.”

The Health Unit has also laid 9 tickets related to face coverings.
