Lindsay Man Charged After Homeowners Awake To The Sound Of Voices In Their Residence, Vehicle Stolen

KAWARTHA LAKES-A scary morning for residents of a Lindsay area home after they awoke to the sound of voices in their residence.

Police say on October 3, 2021, at 1:39pm, Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Highway 35 North address for a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant was allegedly awoken at approximately 9:20am to the sound of voices in the residence which were believed to be those of family members. It was later confirmed that it had not been family members and was unknown individuals inside the residence. 

The complainant further reported a 2002 Ford Mustang and other items stolen from the property. The vehicle was located later on the same date, involved in a single motor vehicle collision in Armour Twp. Police say a male was located hiding near the vehicle and arrested by Almaguin Highlands OPP.

52-year-old David Newell of Lindsay is charged with break, enter dwelling house, theft over $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on November 4, 2021.
