KAWARTHA LAKES-Fall is the perfect time to discover the beauty of the season, and what better place to explore the breathtaking landscape than from the seat of a canoe.
The City of Kawartha Lakes Parks, Recreation and Culture Division is now offering Safe Canoeing Workshops this September in Omemee and Coboconk.
The Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) Safe Canoeing Program offers new paddlers with an introduction to basic safety and canoe skills. Participants will learn about the parts of a canoe, importance of safety gear and basic canoe strokes.
Suitable for ages 10 years and older, these 2 session workshops are scheduled to take place in September at Omemee Beach Park and at the Coboconk Municipal Dock. Limited space is available and pre-registration is required. Participants will be provided with all equipment needed for the workshop, including canoes, paddles and safety equipment. Registration is now open through the Kawartha Lakes Online Program Registration website.
