KAWARTHA LAKES-A 56-year-old local resident is facing an impaired driving charge after being pulled over by the OPP.
Police say on June 3, 2021 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment observed a vehicle believed to be operated by a suspended driver. The ensuing investigation allegedly confirmed that the operators’ Driver’s Licence was suspended. Further investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by alcohol, resulting in the arrest according to police.
Local resident Richard Clarke, 56 years of age, has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded for seven days as part of the offence. The accused party is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 17, 2021.
