KAWARTHA LAKES-A scary morning for some homeowners in Lindsay. The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service were called to a residence on Wellington Street in Lindsay following a report of a home invasion.
Police say on Tuesday June 1, at 6:50am, police responded to a residence and were told by the occupants that five individuals had forcibly entered the residence, two individuals pointed firearms at an occupant. All five suspects, fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Through witness statements and video surveillance officers have identified two of the individuals according to police.
On June 2, 2021, police arrested and charged, one female and a young offender. The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act will not be releasing the names of the accused or any other information that may lead to the identification of the young offender.
23-year-old female and a young offender have been charged with break and enter with intent, robbery with firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a weapon pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
Both have been held in custody for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
