KAWARTHA LAKES-A group of about 30 residents in the Long Beach area of Cameron are mobilizing after finding out about a new home development coming to their area.
A letter circulated to residents on Long Beach Road and Ranchers Road says:
“Are you AWARE? Adjacent to your property more than 400 acres has been sold to a land developer.”
The builder, Flato Developments, is holding an information session on its website on two new projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes in Cameron and Lindsay. There’s no indication of where the Lindsay development will be located.
The company has other projects underway in Oakville, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and more.
Details on the projects are vague. Residents say no information has been made available from the developer, consulting company or the City and it appears there’s been no public consultation held yet on the proposed developments.
Residents have emailed Kawartha 411 with concerns after learning about the proposed development from a neighbour who put the above mentioned letter in their mailboxes.
The company website says it is holding a virtual information session on a Master Planned Community on June 1 at 6pm. No information on the actual project is provided.

We reached out the the City on Friday morning for information but have not had a response.
Officials with Flato have already been active in the community making a donation to Ross Memorial Hospital recently. Read more here:https://www.kawartha411.ca/2021/03/22/builder-donates-25000-to-ross-memorial-hospital-foundation/
