Kawartha Lakes Police Service Charged Two People With Impaired Driving Over The Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City Of Kawartha Lakes Police Service charged two people with impaired driving over the weekend.

On Saturday May 29, 2021 at 6:25am the City of Kawartha Lakes Police received a call from a concerned citizen who had observed a male slumped over the wheel of his vehicle on Mary Street West.

Police say the vehicle left the area prior to police arrival. At 7:20am police responded to a second call regarding a driver slumped over the wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot of a Kent Street West business.

An officer attended the location with Kawartha Lakes Paramedics and assessed the male. The officers allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and signs of impairment by the driver who was placed under arrested.

The accused was found in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest according to police. 26-year-old Christopher Reddings of Kirkfield is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and possession of a schedule I substance.

On Sunday May 30th 2:22am a City of Kawartha Lakes Police officer while on patrol on Angeline Street North in Lindsay, allegedly observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and weaving back and forth. The officer stopped the vehicle and while speaking with the driver determined she was impaired and placed her under arrest according to police.

38-year-old Amanda Nicholson of Lindsay is charged with operation while prohibited under the criminal code and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

Both of the accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 8, 2021.
